WORKSHOP “Opportunities for Sustainable Fishery in Vietnam, define a converted path”

On 30th-31st November, 2012, at Novotel Hotel, Nha Trang city, RECERD cooperated with International Sustainable Unit, Prince of Wales’s Foundation and Vietnam Fishery Organization held a Workshop “Opportunities for Sustainable Fishery in Vietnam, define a converted path”
Workshop had more than 80 participants, included: Participants from developed Fishery countries: Japan, Mozambique, Philippine, USA; from 15 littoral provinces in Vietnam, representatives of Vietnam Fishery Organization, World Bank, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF), Nha Trang University… Management Department of Project “Littoral resources project for a sustainable development” from government and 8 local governments shown up too.

On the first working day, contents of workshop included:
-Gain the global sustainable fishery of Department of International Sustainable Development
-General of recent problem about Fishery in Vietnam
-Functions of co-government organizations in sustainable fishery in Vietnam
-Programs of FAO related to sustainable inshore fishery in Vietnam
-Representatives from Japan, Philippine, Mozambique, Hawaii-USA, Ben Tre-Vietnam, Binh Thuan-Vietnam had presentations shared about sustainable fishery management models that successfully worked in the world and in Vietnam
