Research report:“Local ecological knowledge to conserve and develop endangered fish species in in Lang Sen wetland Reserve is a product of Project “ Using and systematizing fishers’ local ecological knowledge to monitor and manage fisheries, with emphasis on three globally threatened fish species (the Giant Catfish [Pangasianodon gigas], Sanitwongsei’s catfish [Pangasius sanitwongsei] and Jullien's Golden Carp [Probarbus jullieni]), in the Lower Mekong River system of Long An Province, Vietnam” were financed by Birdlife International, Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), Implement by Research center for Resource and Rural development (RECERD).
 This research was carried out by Surveys to gather information from the communities and local authorities at Lang Sen wetland Reserve and commmunes around Lang Sen such as Vinh Loi commune, Vinh Dai, Tan Hung town, Long An province, with emphasis on three globally threatened fish species (the Giant Catfish, Sanitwongsei’s catfish and Jullien's Golden Carp). There are many valuable knowledge from the community and it is a useful informantion for the conservation of endangered fish species of province such as information about food sources, frequency of fisheries apprearance, the factors impact to endangered fish species (destructive fishing gear, pesticide, water level…); the status of destructive fishing gears in province; destructive gear types in the area in the region, the ground that endangered fish species often appear... Besides, there were many effective solutions from community in the development of endangered fish species.
