A project was launched to support implementation of grassroots democracy ordinances in Quynh Lap Commune, Quynh Luu District, Nghe An Province.
On May 10, 2011, RECERD and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) signed an agreement to implement the state-funded project "Support for the implementation ordinances of grassroots democracy in Quynh Lap Commune, Quynh Luu District, Nghe An Province."
The short-term goal of the project is building capacity to implement ordinances on grassroots democracy, as well as building consensus among local government, project management and the people related to issues of compensation, resettlement, vocational training and livelihood of people whose land is taken for industrial projects. The long-term goal is to promote the active participation of local people in implementing grassroots democracy ordinances on infrastructure and contributing to governance in local communities, including issues of livelihood. The project will end on October 30, 2011.
